is

Not everyone is sincere
Most talk to you because you are of use to them
Some don't give you a damn because you're apparently 'not good enough'

To these people, I'm going to treat them the same way they treat me
On occasions when I'm feeling too positive, I'll show them a glimpse of what sincerity truly is

However, to those who treat others true
There will always be someone voluntarily standing by your side
Even if you think you don't need them

I just finished reading this book

Frankly speaking, when I picked up this book
I expected it to be quite a sob-story
Since it's from a man's perspective about the time of 'mourning' after a horrendous break up

No...his girlfriend did not die in an accident or got leukemia....
She just dumped him for someone else.

I was curious as to how the author would describe
Charlie (the main character) dealing with his break up with Sarah
and how different would it be from those women-focused novels
where the lady cries incessantly and goes emotional at the expected moments
OR
she goes around finding other guys to hook up with and finally realizes her folly

Either way...I was curious.

Well, I got my answer...sort of...
I noticed that Charlie did not cry or even regretted his actions after Sarah dumped him
Instead, he went to Crete
To get foolishly drunk
And flirt around with girls a decade or two younger than him
In the process, he became emo a few times by wandering around the city
And met this amazing woman, Donna
Lo and behold, they end up together....

How awesomely predictable *yawn*

But it makes me question...
Are guys all that shallow??
Apparently, Charlie's life was all booze and babes
To top it all off, he was already heading towards 40
Is that all there is to a guy's psyche?
Booze and babes??

No wonder they say women think too much

......which is what I'm doing.....

Just finished watching 'A Moment to Remember'

It made me realize how significant every moment is
No matter how tiny...like a person's name
Or how important...like the way home

I take the date everyday for granted
I don't bother to keep track of what date it is
Unless it's an important one; exam dates, concert dates, birth dates
Ask me what date it is randomly and I'd be there rolling my eyes trying to remember

But the girl in the movie....
She has no clue even though she saw it on the calendar
She forgets her way home even though she goes the same way everyday
She forgets she has a husband even though there's tonnes of photos of them on the wall

It's so sad how a person with Alzheimer's forget and remember these details
As fast as you can flick a light switch
Their loved ones standing by their side
Dreading the very words, "Who are you?"

I find it quite interesting that people find this day as a cause to show the people they love that they care only on ONE day of the year
As opposed to EVERY day of the year

It's so ironic that a day has to be actually designated for the purpose of Love~ Le Amour

I find it a better action to celebrate love everyday
Since it's here everyday anyway

Same goes to Fathers' Day...Mothers' Day...Children's Day....Teachers' Day
and the list of these 'celebrations' goes on and on and on

I sound so.....like a person who never does anything like this
HAHAHAHA
It's up to thou est imagination

Love is supposed to be always cherished, no?
People say love comes and goes...
and then they feel nothing anymore
It shows how shallow their love actually is

Real love...should be something that lingers around
even after the person is gone
And then when you look back on the memories
You get that warm fuzzy feeling again

Just because someone left someone doesn't mean that the feeling has to die
It can stay on for years, decades
And when you remember about that person...it makes your heart smile
and your thoughts just fly to the past

Dear Z,

I've put up with your horrid habits for the past 2 years and slightly more than a month that I've been here.
I have to sincerely say that
Your cooking stinks our unit...comparable to that of a rubbish dump
I don't know how you eat your food
Which consists 70% of the cooking oil you pour into your pot
It's like basically soaking your food in oil and adding more for extra flavour
Not that I care about your health that much
But the leftover oil should be disposed of in a proper manner befitting a person of your age and education
But no.........OBVIOUSLY you had to pour it into someone else's bowl....
HOW MATURE

Moving on from the oil that you 'drink'
I hope you stop the habit of cooking in the middle of the night when others are asleep
If you really have to, then please stop clanging your spatula against the pot
As if you need to announce that your scarily unhealthy food is ready to serve
Besides that, the horrible and indescribable odour from your cooking
finds its way to the room nearest to the kitchen (MINE)
Which is why I keep my sliding door open and my room door shut tight when you cook

Since I've started ranting about windows...
I might as well mention the fact that any logical, rational and courteous human would find the decency to open the window after you take a dump in the lavatory.
How would you like walking into the loo inhaling someone else's gaseous secretion?
Not an pretty thought I reckon.
Guess you couldn't read the nice notice stuck "Pls open the window after"?
All those years sloughing for your International Business Degree
and you can't understand a simple sign *sigh*

And after all those shenanigans,
You can still find the guts to ask me why the toilet's so stuffy
How can you expect air movement when you already shut the window?
Unless by some magical power that our unit has its own wind movement
I shudder to think what kind of wind movement you could suggest

To continue, I hope you keep your itchy and prying fingers away from someone else's laundry in the washing machine
The RED little LED lights light up when someone is using the machine
Or are you colour blind?
Keeping someone waiting for their laundry to be done for almost an hour
Because you just had to take a peek at the laundry sloshing around in the machine

That's all you can expect.
There's nothing special about laundry being washed....if you HAD to look...why not do your own laundry for once?

I just had a sudden awakening
or rather what some people call the 'EUREKA!'

People go online to social network sites like Facebook
when they are alone

Well...that's what I notice about myself anyways...

i still feel lame for obsessing over this question for so god damn long but...

-ize and -ise spellings....one is British and the other is American

my lecturer asked us one fine day..."What's the difference between the British English and American English?"

I remembered that -ize IS British and -ise is American...but I was told otherwise
so being the lameee over-obsessive-about-the-validity-of-stuff person that I lamely am
I just haaaad to do some research on this...

turns out~~~ -ize IS British...but so is -ise
-ize is mainly used by the Oxford English Dictionary...
which explains why amlost everything there is -ize
they use -ize because of the original Greek usage of -izo...
Cambridge, however, uses -ise all the time

-ize is also used in the Webster dictionary (it's American) so some people may think that the use of -ize is actually American...

if we use -ize in spelling..it isn't wrong but we have to be careful as some words do not end with -ize but with -ise... eg. Comprise, Enterprise....

BUT~ if we standardize the usage to -ise...it's easier because you don't have to think whether it's right or wrong...it's always right!!

Went to Shanghai last year
...and some surrounding cities/towns

The winter was fabulous!!!
But we can't say anything about that now can we?

Heheheee~~ the food was not as bad as people said..
The culture was also sort-of enriching
It's not everyday you get to go the country your ancestors were born in :)
